The BEST Gyms in Bali for Backpackers that Cost £6 or Less!

This post is for backpackers looking for affordable gyms in Bali with excellent facilities meaning you don’t blow your entire daily budget at once!

If you’re like me and enjoy staying fit while travelling then you’ll understand how important it is to find great gyms where you can have a great workout and are- most importantly- affordable!

However, I know from experience how difficult it is to find a gym that is just that!

That’s why I’ve created this post. So you can easily find awesome and cheap gyms across Bali, covering all the popular tourist destinations in Bali including Canggu, Ubud, Amed, Seminyak, Uluwatu and Kintamani.

As the headline says, all these gyms cost less than £6 for a day pass, however, 8 of the 13 gyms in this post actually cost 60k IDR (~£2.90) or less!

So without further ado, let’s check out the best cheap gyms in Bali!

Affordable Gyms in Canggu

1. Pucuk

Location: Jl. Pantai Batu Bolong No.52, Banjar, Canggu, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Opening times: 7 am- 9 pm, Mon-Sun

Instagram: @pucukbali_gym

Price: 50k IDR for a day pass, 175k IDR for a week and 400k IDR for a month!

Starting the list strong with great affordable gyms in Bali, I introduce to you Pucuk Gym.

I discovered Pucuk Gym on my second trip to Canggu and couldn’t believe my luck!

This is an outdoor gym, linked to Pucuk homestay and right next to one of my favourite healthy cafes in Canggu: Motion Foods!

Although small, this gym is packed to the brim with new and excellent equipment, guaranteeing a great workout. I also noticed how good the gym owners are at fixing and maintaining the equipment. Within a couple of days, the popular hip abduction had been declared ‘out of order’ and then back up working again!

You can even grab a delicious ice-cold protein shake after your training session for just 25k IDR. Trust me, after working out in the Balinese heat, you’ll be wanting it!

2. Victory Fitness Club

Location: Jalan Pantai Pererenan No.89 Pererenan, Canggu, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80351, Indonesia

Opening times: 7 am- 8:30 pm, Mon-Sun

Instagram: @victoryfitnessclub

Price: 50k IDR for a day pass

Victory Fitness Club is not a fancy gym by any means but it does have everything you need for an effective workout.

There is an old-school feel to this gym. With all the classic body-building gym equipment and no aircon (large windows are open upstairs), your workout is guaranteed to be sweaty! You can ramp the heat up even more by adding a sauna trip for a small additional cost.

Despite this not being one of the ‘freshest’ looking gyms in Canggu, compared to the prices of the upmarket commercial gyms in Bali, Victory Fitness Club is a great option for backpackers on a tight budget!

3. Brother Gym

Credit: Facebook

Location: Jl. Raya Babakan Canggu No.14, Canggu, Kec. Kuta Utara, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Opening times: 6:30 am- 10 pm, Mon-Sun

Price: 50k IDR for a day pass

Another incredible cheap gym in Canggu! Brother Gym is popular with backpackers due its welcoming staff and clean environment.

Most machines at Brother Gym are relatively new and there’s a good selection of upper and lower body specific equipment to choose from. Dumbbells also go up to 35kg too which is great for most backpackers!

Again, this gym has no air con meaning it’s a good idea to bring a towel and a large bottle of water with you!

Affordable Gyms in Ubud

4. Resya Gym

Location: Unnamed Road, Kedewatan, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80561, Indonesia

Opening times: 7 am- 8 pm, Mon-Sun

Price: 60k IDR a day which includes a towel

Resya Gym was an awesome affordable gym find in Ubud!

Compared to other budget-friendly gyms I visited in Bali, this has to be one of the biggest and I was impressed with the amount of equipment they had to offer.

With no aircon being a common theme for the most affordable gyms in Bali, Resya at least tries to help with the sweaty circumstances by providing a free towel with entry.

If you’re looking for some protein-packed snacks, you’ll find a range of protein bars and cookies that you can reward yourself with post-training.

When I return to Ubud, I’ll definitely be stopping at Resya’s Gym. Besides for £2.90 a session, you can’t complain!

5. Massa’s Fitness Centre

Credit: Facebook

Location: Jl. Made Lebah No.2, Peliatan, Kecamatan Ubud, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali 80571, Indonesia

Opening times: 8 am- 8 pm, Mon-Sun

Price: 50k IDR for a day pass with a free locker upon entry

What an absolute GEM of a gym!

Massa’s Fitness Centre is heaven on Earth for fitness enthusiasts looking for cheap gyms in Bali.

Here you’ll find everything you need and more, including popular leg equipment machinery such as two different hack squats and two squatting racks, making it impossible to find an excuse to skip leg day!

There’s no aircon and you’ll have to pay for water and a towel but if you come prepared this shouldn’t be an issue at all.

Affordable Gyms in Kintamani

6. Future Playground Fitness Club

Location: P9C4+8H3, Penelokan Main Rd, Central Batur, Kintamani, Bangli Regency, Bali 80652, Indonesia

Opening times: 8 am- 10 pm, Mon-Sun

Instagram: @futureplayground_

Price: 100k IDR for a day pass including a towel and water

Kintamani, home to the active volcano Mount Batur, is usually a very quick stop for backpackers on a tight schedule.

Due to this, there are a lot less commercial Western-style gyms in this area.

Don’t be disappointed though since if you find yourself in Kintamani for a while there are still great inexpensive local gyms around this area. One of these is the Future Playground Fitness Club!

This is an incredibly spacious gym with lots of new and well-maintained equipment. I especially like the open design of the gym which makes the atmosphere comfortable and less cramped compared to other gyms you’ll find across Bali.

Despite this gym being slightly on the price side compared to previous gyms in this list, the fact you get a free towel and water with entry makes it well worth the price!

Affordable Gyms in Amed

7. 99 Double Nine Gym

Location: MJC8+Q88, Laba Sari, Abang, Karangasem Regency, Bali 80852, Indonesia

Opening times: 7 am- 9 pm, Mon-Sun

Price: 30k IDR for a day pass!

For a mere 30k IDR (~£1.44) you can access 99 Double Nine Gym! This has to be one of the most affordable gyms in Bali for sure!

For this price, don’t expect anything fancy. The equipment is quite old but works extremely well meaning you’ll still have a great workout.

This gym is used mostly by the super-friendly locals and the music here is good too so if you don’t fancy wearing headphones in the heat you won’t be missing out on any motivation!

There’s no squat or deadlift platform for the powerlifters out there but for those who prefer bodybuilding-style workouts, you have everything you could need such as dumbbells, a leg press, a smith machine and cables.

8. The Lift

Credit: @theliftbali

Location: Jl. I Ketut Natih No.88, Purwakerti, Kec. Abang, Kabupaten Karangasem, Bali 80852, Indonesia

Opening times: 6:30 am- 8:30 pm, Mon-Sun

Instagram: @theliftbali

Price: 120k IDR for a day pass

The Lift is an extremely new gym, which opened its doors this year!

This gym provides a complete experience for Amed gym fanatics. The equipment is brand new and there’s a large variety to choose from, and you can even grab a post-workout snack or protein shake from their cafe inside!

The Loft also has a wide variety of gym supplements available to buy and provides free drinking water from their dispenser!

You must bring a towel as part of their gym policy but if you don’t have one to hand you can rent one from reception too.

Unlike many other gyms on this list, The Lift does have aircon so if you feel like splashing a little extra cash, why not treat yourself to a day pass at this gym?

Affordable Gyms in Seminyak

9. Daily Gym Bali

best cheap gyms in seminyak bali
Credit: Tripadvisor

Location: Jl. Petitenget No.72, Seminyak, Bali, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Opening times: 7 am- 8:30 pm, Mon-Fri and 8 am- 3 pm, Sat-Sun

Price: 100k IDR for a day pass

This independent gym in Seminyak is small but well-equipped with everything you need for a complete workout.

If you fancy attending a class, you can go to one of the drop-in boxing or Muy Thai classes offered at Daily Gym Bali too!

The only real downside to this gym may be its size, which can become quite cramped during busier hours so I would advise training during off-peak hours if possible.

Also, take note of the shorter opening hours during the weekend so you can plan your workout accordingly to avoid disappointment!

10. Rai Fitness Bali

Credit: Tripadvisor

Location: Jl. Pura Merta Sari V, Pemecutan Klod, Kec. Denpasar Bar., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Opening times: 6 am- 10 pm, Mon-Fri and 8 am- 6 pm, Sat-Sun

Price: 110k IDR for a day pass

Rai Fitness Bali is yet again another incredible find and truly deserves to be mentioned in this affordable gyms in Bali guide!

Featuring highly-specialised equipment including a pendulum squat machine, an abduction machine, a smith machine and -my personal favourite- mags handles for lat pull downs, for 110k IDR you’re truly getting your money’s worth!

If you’re still unconvinced, Rai’s also has a sauna, aircon and free water refills.

I seriously cannot find a downside to this gym!

11. The Flash Gym

best affordable gyms in seminyak bali

Location: Jl. Sri Rama No.63, Legian, Kec. Kuta, Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Opening hours: 6 am- 10 pm, Mon-Sun

Instagram: @theflashgym.bali

Price: 100k IDR for a day pass

Aside from the great opening hours across all days of the week, the key highlight of this gym has to be it’s recovery centre which features a sauna, jacuzzi and cold ice baths!

The gym itself has something for everyone including a range of cardio and resistance equipment as well as a boxing area!

The Flash Gym also has an outdoor cafe area where you can chill and sip on cold juice after your training session.

Affordable Gyms in Uluwatu

12. Jaya Gym Uluwatu

Credit: @jaya_gym_uluwatu

Location: Jl. Temu Dewi No.3, Pecatu, Kec. Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Opening times: 7 am- 9 pm, Mon-Sun

Instagram: @jaya_gym_uluwatu

Price: 30k IDR for a day pass

Joint top of the most affordable gyms in Bali list, you have Jaya Gym Uluwatu.

This is a reasonably small gym, however, it rarely gets busy so you won’t find yourself waiting around for equipment for long if at all.

Jaya Gym has all the essential equipment you need for an effective workout: a squat rack, lat pull-down machine, dumbbells, cables, leg press, bench press, leg extension, and more!

You can even purchase a protein shake after your workout for only 20k IDR making this one of the best gyms in Bali for health-conscious backpackers on a budget.

13. Point One Fitness

Location: 54HW+JJM, Uluwatu St, Jimbaran, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali 80361, Indonesia

Opening times: 6 am- 9 pm, Mon-Sun

Last but certainly not least we have Point One Fitness.

This gym has air-con and lots of awesome equipment such as a deadlift platform, pull-up bars and a functional workout area.

For only 50k IDR you also get a free towel to use during your workout and a key to your own locker so you don’t have to carry everything around with you.

Point One Fitness also keeps the environment extremely clean giving this location extra brownie points and making it perfect for a broke backpacker seeking a luxurious-feeling gym in Uluwatu!
