This post provides 24 ways to ‘Glow Up’ in all areas of your life.

The term ‘glow up’ often refers to a positive personal transformation whether that be appearance, style, confidence, or health.
In this post, I’ll be taking it one step further. I’ll introduce ways to not only ‘glow up’ physically but also mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
This ’25 Ways To ‘Glow Up’ in All Areas of Your Life’ post will leave you glowing from the inside out.
24 Ways to ‘Glow Up’ in All Areas of Your Life
1. Find the right skincare for you
Let me tell you this made a HUGE difference in my confidence let alone my appearance.
If you are like how I was, trying out various products that were seemingly working for everyone else/ didn’t really know what skin type you are, then please go to see a medical professional!
When I was living in Australia, I was fed up with constantly breaking out and having sore spots around my chin and cheeks. I decided one morning to go to a pharmacy and ask the local pharmacist for help.
He suggested that I try La Roche Posay Effaclar range and from that point on my road to clear skin began.
I’d recommend this product to anyone who is hopelessly trying to find skincare that will clear their skin. However, be sure to contact a medical professional before, they’ll know better than me what products will be right for you!
2. Try out different hairstyles/hair products
I recently took the plunge and decided to chop my hair to the shortest it’s been since my little bob in primary school. I’M OBSESSED.
I was thinking about doing this for ages and now I only wish I did it sooner.
You don’t have to be as extreme as this. Finding new and cute hairstyles with hair accessories is a good place to start.
I often use Pinterest for new ideas- I’ll pin them to my board so that I can refer back to them later.
3. Invest in high-quality clothing that suits you
This can be a difficult one considering the ridiculous sizing variations that occur between clothing brands.
However, I’d advise you to ignore sizes and choose the piece of clothing that flatters you the most!
Finding clothing that suits you will mean your body is flattered in the right ways and you feel CONFIDENT in what you’re wearing.
You can even take it one step further and undergo a colour analysis to find out which colour palette suits you for each season.
4. Clear out your wardrobe and sell or donate old clothes
This not only makes you feel more organised (leaving you glowing up mentally) but also you can glow up financially by selling these clothes.
I’ll admit Vinted is my guilty pleasure. It is so easy to make money while giving away your preloved items (and it doesn’t have to be just clothes!).
Donating your clothes to charity is another feel-good way of clearing out your wardrobe and becoming a newly organised YOU while making a positive impact on society.
5. Incorporate regular exercise into your routine
This will not only increase your fitness levels but will give you more energy throughout the day too!
Exercise is key for physical, mental, and emotional glow-ups. It acts as a stress reliever and the rush of endorphins will heighten your feeling of accomplishment each time you work out!
6. Practice mindfulness and meditation

Meditation benefits include decreasing cortisol levels and improving your mood. It is also said to increase self-awareness and is great for aligning your mind and body with your goals.
There are so many great mindfulness and meditation apps in the market that help you take the first steps in your wellness journey. I’ve used quite a few since my teenage years and find them extremely useful (especially when I’m consistent) at regulating my anxiety and feeling on top of my emotions.
The Mindfulness Plus+ Meditations app is a great wellness app to supplement your self-care journey. The vast library of meditations, as well as additional tools for improving sleep and general life coaching services, will help you in reducing stress and anxiety in your daily life. Follow this link to get a FREE 7-day trial.
To learn more and reap the benefits of mindfulness and meditation, I’d also recommend checking out Dr. Joe Dispenza’s work. I use his meditations all the time and I have read several of his books which have had a huge impact on my understanding of this practice!
7. Drink enough water daily
Drinking enough water each day will result in better skin, and energy, can promote weight loss, and maintains a healthy digestive system.
Invest in a water bottle with time stamps if you’re terrible at keeping track of your daily water intake.
8. Learn a new skill or hobby
Doing something you love is good for the soul.
In Australia, I took up commercial dance classes having not danced since my GCSEs. It made me feel so confident and I loved having these classes as part of my routine. I went with friends which also made it a fun social activity.
Ideas for new hobbies include:
- Taking up a new sport
- Learning how to play an instrument
- Photography
- Hiking
- Gardening
- Cooking/ baking
- Creative writing
9. Prioritise sleep
Getting 7-9 hours is the recommended amount of sleep adults should get each night.
Getting enough sleep promotes overall health and well-being, lowers cortisol, and provides more energy for your day.
If you struggle to get enough hours, contact a medical professional to try to find ways of improving your quality and length of sleep.
10. Surround yourself with positive and supportive people
You are the product of the people you surround yourself with the most. Be sure that these people are uplifting and you feel energised after leaving their company.
If someone continually makes you feel miserable, then try to limit contact with them.
That’s not to be mean. However, it is crucial to your well-being that you feel loved and supported by those around you.
11. Set boundaries
Following on from the previous point, if you cannot stop exposure to negative or draining people altogether then try to limit the time you spend around them.
Learning to say ‘no’ will be one of the most crucial abilities to do in life. Make sure you are polite when declining an invitation or being asked to do something. It’s no good being negative on your behalf since this will have an undesirable impact on your own emotions.
This applies to all areas of life, not just when you don’t want to see someone.
If you’re overwhelmed with work and have been asked by a friend to hang out, just politely decline the offer and propose to reschedule for another time.
This will leave you feeling less stressed and in control of your life.
Now that is a real glow-up.
12. Read self-help books
Self-help books help you understand and analyse your behaviours and provide steps and measures to work on personal development.
If you haven’t heard of this international bestseller already, one of my absolute favourite self-help books I’ve read in the past year is ‘Atomic Habits’ by James Clear. I reference this book A LOT throughout my blog because the lessons I have learned are absolutely life-changing.
Applying principles from this book, my productivity has SKYROCKETED and I have formed better and more disciplined habits that have allowed me to achieve goals I never thought possible. It’s also an easy read and includes graphics throughout the book that help reinforce your understanding of the science of habit formation.

No time to read?
My favourite little hack to ensure that I stay on track with my personal development journey is by listening to audiobooks.
Audible is an audiobook subscription that gives access to unlimited genres and podcasts so you can listen to books while driving to work or doing the housework.
I love combining mundane activities while listening to audio self-help books since I feel SO much more productive in my day (and makes the mundane tasks, well, less mundane).
The monthly subscription is £7.99/ month to an UNLIMITED amount of books which is absolutely insane considering one paperback usually around £10! So there you have it, my little hack for squeezing in more self-improvement time into the day.
You can get a 2 MONTH FREE Trial with this link.
This includes one free audiobook from their enormous library (2 free for existing Amazon Prime members). The best bit? You KEEP the audiobook on their free app even if you cancel after the free trial period ends.
If you’re serious about incorporating more time for reading (or listening) into your life, I cannot recommend audiobooks enough!

13. Improve your posture
Working over a laptop and even using mobile phones can cause weakened upper back muscles and result in a ‘hunchback’ effect.
Low self-confidence may also cause your shoulders to fall forward and cower especially in social settings.
However, having a good posture can reverse the appearance and feeling of low self-esteem.
Make an effort to walk and sit with your shoulders slightly back and an aligned spine- it’ll do wonders for you!
To improve your back muscles, try strength training 1-2 times a week, focusing on good form and technique.
14. Practice daily gratitude

A ‘glow-up’ guide would not be complete without practicing daily gratitude.
Try to keep a journal and note down 3-5 things each morning to leave you with a spring in your step for the rest of the day!
This gratitude journal is great for sticking to your daily gratitude practice and it only takes 5 minutes a day to fill out!
15. Increase your income
Look for opportunities to increase your income through side hustles, freelancing, or advancing your career.
Consider acquiring new skills or certifications that can make you more marketable in your field or exploring alternative sources of income such as rental properties or passive investments.
You never know, you may be able to earn a full income from this one day!
16. Focus on nutrition
Eating healthily by incorporating lots of whole foods and minimising the number of processed items you consume will work wonders!
By eating less processed meals and more fruit and veggies your skin and overall health will improve, leaving you feeling great and energised throughout the day.
If you find it difficult to consistently cook healthy meals, try meal prepping on Sunday evenings. This will mean you’ll start your week off strong and will inspire you for the rest of the week to keep up your efforts!
17. Try new foods and recipes
On the subject of food, learning new recipes and trying out new food is a great way to ‘glow up’ in the kitchen.
Your culinary confidence will increase tenfold, and you can show off your favourite new recipes cooking for your friends and family!
18. Spend time with those you love
Humans are meant to be social. Fostering healthy and meaningful relationships can boost your self-esteem, and happiness while lowering the sensation of stress.
Make an effort to spend time with your friends or family a couple of times each week. You could even persuade a friend to try out a new hobby with you.
19. Set a budget
Create a monthly budget taking into account your monthly income and expenses. This avoids overspending and getting into financial difficulty in the future.
Identifying areas where expenses can be reduced is a good idea and will allow you to save or invest for the future.
You can find budgeting tools or apps to help you stay organised and accountable.
20. Pay off your debts

Develop a plan to pay off any outstanding debts, starting with high-interest debt first.
For guidance contact a financial professional to help you make a plan to gradually pay off your debt.
Doing this will bring you closer to financial freedom and will remove a lot of stress from your life.
21. Create a vision board
Creating a vision board is a fun way to set goals and stay motivated to achieve them.
I’d recommend creating a physical board and putting it somewhere in your room where you’ll see it daily. Personally, this works better than using a digital board because I like to see my vision board as often as possible (and it feels more personal too).
If you’d prefer to have a digital vision board then try setting it as your home/lock screen on your phone or laptop. This way you’re guaranteed to see your board daily and therefore should help keep your motivation on track!
Pinterest is a good source for collecting images to represent your personal goals.
22. Save and invest
Establish an emergency fund with three to six months’ worth of living expenses to cover unexpected expenses or financial emergencies.
Once you have an emergency fund in place, focus on saving for long-term goals such as retirement, homeownership, or education.
Consider automating your savings and investing contributions to make it easier to stay on track.
If you’re unsure, contact a financial professional to help you make a savings and investment plan.
Financial education books such as Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and The Richest Man in Babylon are great places to start improving your financial literacy!
23. Step outside your comfort zone

Ha Giang, Vietnam (2022)
By challenging yourself to step outside your comfort zone you’ll become a much more confident individual.
Fear is commonly derived by self-doubt and in most cases, the negative self chatter isn’t even true!
Try to push yourself at least once a fortnight by doing something slightly scary to you (as long as you are 100% safe of course).
You may surprise yourself!
24. Practice self-compassion
Be quick to forgive yourself and let go of past regrets and mistakes. We’re all human and everyone does silly things from time to time.
Treat yourself with kindness and this will reduce the chances of making any more bad decisions since you’ll be able to think a lot clearer.
Try reading self-help books or journalling if this is something you truly want to work on.
